Sleeves
Cast on 44 (46) sts at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows โ 149 (156) sts.
Work in Garter Stitch until the sleeve section measures 2 inches from the rows where the sleeve stitches were cast on, ending with a wrong-side row.
Shape Neck

Continue working both sides in Garter Stitch until the sleeve section measures 5 inches from the rows where the sleeve stitches were originally cast on, ending with a wrong-side row.
Back
Knit 63 (66) sts. Cast on 23 (24) sts for the back neck, then knit across the remaining 63 (66) sts โ 149 (156) sts.
Remove the second skein of yarn and continue working all stitches together.

Continue in Garter Stitch until the sleeve section measures 8ยฝ inches total from the original sleeve cast-on rows, ending with a wrong-side row.
Bind off 44 (46) sts at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows โ 61 (64) sts remain.
Switch to Stockinette Stitch and work until the back body measures 10 (11) inches from the sleeve bind-off edge.
Work in Garter Stitch for 5 rows.
Bind off.
Neck
Using the circular needles and with the right side facing, pick up and knit:
23 (24) sts across the back neck
16 sts along one side of the neck
7 (8) sts from the stitch holder
16 sts along the other side of the neck for 62 (64) sts total.
Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
Knit every round for 10 rounds.
Bind off loosely.
Finishing
Fold the sweater at the shoulders with the front and back aligned.
Sew the sleeve seams from the cuffs to the underarms. Continue sewing down the side seams from the underarms to the bottom hem.

What does one-piece construction mean?
One-piece construction means the sweater is knitted as one continuous piece rather than making the front, back, and sleeves separately. This simplifies the knitting process and reduces the amount of sewing required when finishing the sweater.
How long does it take to knit a toddler sweater?
The time needed depends on your knitting experience, yarn weight, and how much time you spend knitting each day. Toddler sweaters are generally quicker to finish than adult-sized garments because they require fewer stitches and less yarn.
What yarn is best for a toddler sweater?
Soft, comfortable yarn is ideal for toddler clothing. Machine-washable acrylic, cotton blends, and washable wool blends are practical choices. Look for yarn that feels gentle against the skin and is easy to care for.
Can I customize this toddler sweater?
Absolutely! One of the easiest ways to personalize this easy toddler sweater knitting pattern is by changing the yarn color. Classic neutrals create a timeless look, while brighter shades make a fun addition to a child’s wardrobe.
