Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 2 inches, ending on a wrong side row.
Work in stocking st until work from beg measures 8 inches, ending with a purl row.
Shape armholes: Cast off 4 sts beg next 2 rows. 53 sts.
Continue even until armhole measures 6 inches, ending with a purl row.
Shape shoulders: Cast off 6 sts beg next 2 rows, then cast off 7 sts beg following 2 rows. Leave the remaining 27 sts on a stitch holder.
FRONT
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.
Note: When you get to the chart, use a separate ball of yarn for each area (mouth, nose, eyes).
Work in stockinette stitch for 6 rows.
First row of chart
Row 1: (Right Side). K11. Work 1st row of Chart I across next 39 sts. Knit to end of row. Row 2: P11. Work 2nd row of Chart I across next 39 sts. Purl to end of row.
Keeping working in chart until the work from the beginning measures same length as Back to armholes, ending with a purl row.
Shape armholes: Cast off 4 sts beg next 2 rows. (53 sts)
Continue even until the armhole measures 3 1/2 inches ending with a purl row.
Shape neck:
Next row: K20 (neck edge). Turn. Leave remaining sts on a spare needle.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows, then on every following alt row 3 times. (13 sts). Continue even until armhole measures same length as Back to beginning of shoulder shaping, ending with a purl row.
Shape shoulder: Cast off 6 sts beg next row. Work 1 row even.
Cast off rem 7 sts.
With Right Side of work facing, slip next 13 sts onto a st holder. Join yarn to rem sts and knit to end of row. Decrease 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows, then on every following alternate row 3 times. (13 sts)
Continue working until armhole measures same length as Back to beg of shoulder shaping, ending with a purl row.
Shape shoulder: Cast off 6 sts beg next row. Work 1 row even.
Cast off rem 7 sts.
SLEEVES
With orange yarn cast on 35 sts.
Work 2 inches in K1, P1 ribbing as given for Back, increasing 4 sts evenly across last row. (39 sts)
Work in stocking stitch for 4 rows. Increase 1 st each end of needle on next and every following 4th row until there are 47 sts, then on every following 6th row until there are 55 sts.
Continue working until piece from beg measures 10 inches, ending with a purl row. Place markers at each end of last row.
Work 4 rows even. Cast off.
Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With Right Side of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 15 sts down left front neck edge. K13 from front st holder. Pick up and knit 15 sts up right front neck edge. K27 from back st holder, increase 1 st at center. (71 sts).
Beg on a 2nd row, work 7 rows in (K1. P1) ribbing as given for Back. Cast off in ribbing.
Sew left shoulder and neckband. Sew in sleeves placing rows above markers along cast off sts of front and back to form square armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.
