To give the pumpkin a more squat, rounded shape, thread the yarn tail through the center of the pumpkin from bottom to top. Pull the yarn firmly to gently compress the pumpkin and create the desired shape. Secure the yarn, then weave in the end.
The final step is to create the stem. Pick up stitches and make a single crochet around the top of the pumpkin. Work for a few rounds until the stem is as long as you like. On the last row, single crochet in every other stitch to decrease. Break yarn and weave in ends.
