Pattern instructions:
Cast on 57 stitches.

Row 1: K3, *P1, K3; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2: K1, *P1, K3; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, P1, K1.

Repeat Rows 1–2 until the piece measures 9 1/2 inches from the cast-on edge.

Shape the Crown

Decrease Row 1: *K2tog; repeat from * across to last st, K1. (29 sts)

Decrease Row 2: *K2tog; repeat from * across to last st, K1. (15 sts)

Finishing

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the remaining 15 stitches. Pull tightly to close the opening at the top of the hat and secure.

Using the remaining yarn tail, sew the side seam to form the beanie. Weave in any loose ends.
