Yarn: Lion Brand Jeans in Capri (2 skeins)
Needles: Size US 8 single point knitting needles, size US 9 straight needles.
Guage: 2 inches = 8 sts with the size US 8 needles
Size: 18-24 months
Pattern Instructions:
Cast on 46 sts. Work in Garter st until piece measures about7 1/2 inches from the cast-on edge.
Sleeves
Cast on 30 sts, knit to end of row.
Rep last row once more – 106 sts at the end of row.
Work in Garter st until piece measures about 4 1/2 in. above sleeve cast-on row.
Neck
Use the larger set of needles to bind and cast off for the neck. This will ensure that the neck can easily fit over baby’s head.
Neck Bind-Off Row: Knit 40 (switch to larger needles) bind off center 26 sts. for neck and (switch to smaller needles) knit to the end of the row. There will be 40 sts. on each side of the neck.
Neck Cast-On Row:
Using smaller needles, knit 40 sts. Switch to large needles and cast on 26 sts (loosely) and (switch to smaller needles) knit to the end of the row.
Using the small needles, work in Garter st until the piece measures about 4 1/2 inches above the neck.
Sleeve Bind-Off Row
Bind off 30 sts, knit to end of row.
Rep last row once more – (you are left with 46 sts)
Work in Garter st until piece measures 7 1/2 inches from sleeve
bind-off row.
Bind off loosely.
Finishing: Fold the piece over and line up the sleeves and sides. Sew side seams, seams under the arms and the sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
