    Yarn: LB Collection Baby Alpaca Yarn in Fawn Heather (1 skein)
    For the Pom pom- Lion Brand Modern Baby in Chartreuse
    Needles: for the hat: size US 3 straight knitting needles, for the booties: size US 4 straight needles
    Gauge: for hat- 22–26 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
    For the booties: 21–24 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)
    Size: newborn

    Pattern instructions:
    Cast on 82 sts.
    Work in K2 P2 ribbing for 7 inches

    To shape the crown: 
    Row 1 (Right Side): *Knit 2, purl 2 together across row
    Row 2 (Wrong Side): *Purl 2, knit 1; across row
    Row 3: *Knit 2, purl 1; across row
    Row 4: Repeat Row 2.

    Next Row: *Knit 2 together, purl 1; across row
    Next Row: Knit 1, purl 1 across row
    Next Row:*Knit 2 together; across row.
    Next Row: Purl across row
    Last Row: *Knit 2 together; across row

    To finish– cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread through remaining stitches and pull tightly, sew seam in back. Make and attach a pom pom.

    Booties
    Cast on 31 stitches. Knit 8 rows.
    Row 9: Knit 12, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 12
    Row 10: Knit 11, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 11
    Row 11: Knit 10, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 10
    Row 12: Knit 9, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 9
    Row 13: Knit 8, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 8
    Row 14: Knit 7, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 7

    Knit 12 more rows. Bind off loosely.

    Finishing the booties:
    Fold the bootie over, right sides together. Sew the back and foot seam. Turn the booties right side out.
