Needles: Size US 9 circular 16 inch, Size 9 double pointed, crochet hook H (for the vines)
Gauge: approximately 16 sts × 22 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch.

Cast on 64 (72) sts. Work in K4, P4 ribbing for 8 (8 1/2) inches.
Shape crown:
Row 1: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, Knit 1, Purl 4, repeat across row (56, 64 sts)
Row 2: Knit 3, Purl 1, Purl 2 together, Purl 1, repeat across row (48, 56 sts)
Row 3: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, Purl 3, repeat across row (40, 48 sts)
Row 4: Knit 2, Purl 1, Purl 2 together, repeat across row (32, 40 sts)
Row 5: Knit 2 together, Purl 2, repeat across row (24, 32 sts)
Row 6: Knit 1, Purl 2 together, repeat across row (16, 24 sts)
Knit 2 together until you are left with 10 sts. Switch to brown yarn and knit until pumpkin stem measures 1 1/2 inches. Break yarn, pull through remaining stitches and pull to tighten.
To make the vine: Using crochet hook H and the green yarn chain 30. Single crochet back over skipping every other chain. To make the 2nd vine- chain 20. Single crochet back over skipping every other chain. Tie onto hat.
