Yarn: Lion Brand Hometown in San Diego Navy
Crochet hook: Size US L/11 (8 mm) crochet hook
Gauge: 8 sc and 9 rows = 4 inches
Sizes: kids ages 2/4, 6/8, 10/12

Note: When working in rounds, the RS of work will be facing you, however you will be working into stitches on the WS.
Rounds are worked in a spiral. Do not join at the end of rounds.
Place a marker on the first stitch at the end of each round and move the marker each round.

Kids Spiral Hat Crochet Pattern

Pattern instructions:
Ch 3.
1st round: (RS). 6 hdc in 3rd ch from hook.
2nd round: *Work 2 hdc in horizontal bar created below stitch in previous row (bar is below loops normally worked on WS – see diagram). Rep from * around. 12 hdc.
3rd round: *Work 2 hdc in horizontal bar in next st. Rep from * around. 24 hdc.
4th round: *Work 2 hdc in horizontal bar in next st. Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar in next st. Rep from * around. 36 hdc.
5th round: *Work 2 hdc in horizontal bar in next st. Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar in each next 5 sts. Rep from * around. 42 hdc.

Sizes 6/8 and 10/12 only:
6th round: *Work 2 hdc in horizontal bar in next st. Work 1 hdc in horizontal
bar in each of the next 6 sts. Rep from * around. 48 hdc.

Size 10/12 only:
7th round: *Work 2 hdc in horizontal bar in next st. Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar in each
of the next 23 sts. Rep from * once more. 50 sts.

All sizes:
Next round: *Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar in each st around. 42 (48-50) hdc.
Repeat last round until work from beginning measures 6 1/2 (7 1/2-8 1/2) inches.
Next round: Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar in each of the next 3 sts. Sl st in horizontal bar in each of the next 2 sts.
Fasten off.
