How to join colors when rib knitting

Changing colors when rib knitting creates yarn bumps from purl stitches that show on the right-hand side. The simplest way to get cleans stripes is to knit a row when changing color. Then, on the next row proceed to knit in ribbing. The single knit row isn’t visible and the stripes won’t have any bumps.
