These velvet pumpkins are knit on straight needles using a simple stockinette stitch which makes this pattern ideal for beginners.

Easy Velvet Pumpkins Knitting Pattern

Yarn: Yuyoye Velvet Yarn
Needles: Size US 7 single point knitting needles
Also needed: poly fill, tapestry needle
Gauge: Not necessary for this project
For the larger knit pumpkin:
Cast on 40 sts.
Work in stockinette stitch until the piece measure 8 inches from the cast on edge. Break yarn, insert the end through a tapestry needle and remove the stitches on the needle. Pull to tighten and weave in ends.
For the smaller knit pumpkin:
Cast on 30 sts.
Work in stockinette stitch until the piece measure 6 1/2 inches from the cast on edge. Break yarn, insert the end through a tapestry needle and remove the stitches on the needle. Pull to tighten and weave in ends.
How to finish the knit pumpkins
Fold the piece over and sew the side seam.
Make a running stitch around the bottom of the pumpkin.
Stuff the pumpkin and pull the yarn to close the opening.

The final step is to create the stem. Pick up stitches and make a single crochet around the top of the pumpkin. Work for a few rounds until the stem is as long as you like. On the last row, single crochet in every other stitch to decrease. Break yarn and weave in ends.
