A Perfect Scrap Yarn Knitting Project

One of the biggest appeals of this scrap yarn pumpkin knitting pattern is how perfectly it uses leftover yarn. Most knitters have small amounts of yarn left over from previous projects, and this pattern is an ideal way to use those scraps creatively.

Because each pumpkin is relatively small, you don’t need a full skein of yarn. You can mix colors, textures, and even yarn types to create a unique and personalized look. This makes every pumpkin different, giving your collection a charming, handmade feel.

Scrap yarn projects like this are also a great way to reduce waste. Instead of discarding leftover yarn, you’re giving it new life in a project that’s both decorative and practical.

Simple Construction with Beautiful Results

This easy pumpkin knitting pattern uses a simple but effective construction method. The pumpkin is knit in the round as a ribbed tube using double-pointed needles. Once the knitting is complete, both ends are gathered and pulled tight to create the shape .

After stuffing the pumpkin, a piece of yarn is run through the center to create the classic pumpkin indent, giving it that realistic, slightly squished look . A small twig is then added as the stem, completing the design.

The result is a soft, textured pumpkin that looks beautiful in any setting. Despite how polished it looks, the process is incredibly simple and beginner-friendly.
