Super Easy Vegan Avocado Mousse- a lightened up take on classic chocolate mousse. This healthier, gluten-free alternative can be made in 5 minutes with no cooking!
Jump to RecipeTraditionally, chocolate mousse is made with eggs, sugar and heavy cream. This lightened-up vegan chocolate mousse contains only 5 ingredients- avocados, cocoa powder, maple syrup, coconut cream and vegan chocolate chips.
Does this mousse taste like avocado?
Not at all! The mild flavor of the avocado is completely masked by the cocoa powder and chocolate. The texture is identical to traditional chocolate mousse.

Super Easy Vegan Avocado Mousse
Ingredients needed:
2 ripe avocadoes- chopped
1/4 Cocoa Powder
3 tbsp Pure maple syrup or agave nectar
Coconut cream from the top of the can of coconut milk
3/4 cup Melted dairy-free chocolate chips
Instructions for this vegan avocado chocolate mousse:
Add the chopped avocado to a food processor or high powered blender. Blend until it is creamy and there are no chunks.
Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, coconut cream* and melted chocolate chips** to the avocado and blend until creamy. Refrigerate for an hour before serving.
You can serve as-is or layer parfait-style like I did with graham crackers, whipped cream, and topped with raspberries.
Notes:
*The coconut cream is the sold portion found at the top of the can. Only use this part. The liquid can be saved for smoothies.
**To melt the chocolate chips- pour them in a bowl and microwave on 30 second intervals, stirring well in between heating.
