Easy Jumbo Pumpkin Knitting Pattern
Easy Jumbo Pumpkin Knitting Pattern- a fast and fun project for the quintessential autumn decor!
The previous years I’ve posted knitting patterns for small Scrap Yarn Pumpkins and Large Pumpkins. This year I decided to go big! These jumbo pumpkins are perfect for fall decorating. They will look great arranged on a mantle or even as substitute throw pillows on the sofa.
This pattern is knit using two strands of yarn at the same time. The double strands help the pumpkin to maintain its shape. This jumbo pumpkin can be knit using either single point or circular knitting needles.
I have included both a step-by-step and video tutorial to show you how the pumpkin is made.

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Pumpkin (2 skeins)
Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Barley for the stem
Also needed: yarn needle, poly fill, crochet hook for super bulky yarn
Needles: Size US 15 single point knitting needles OR Size US 15, 16-inch circular knitting needles
Size: The finished pumpkin measures approximately 13 inches from the bottom to the top of the stem.
Gauge: not important for this pattern
Note: this pattern can be knit using either single point or circular knitting needles.
Cast on 54 sts.
Work in Knit 4, Purl 2 ribbing until piece measures approximately 14 inches. Break yarn, leaving a long tail.
How to assemble the pumpkin
Thread the end of the yarn (both strands) through the needle. Thread the needle through the stitches, removing them from the knitting needle. Pull tightly to gather.
If you knit the pumpkin using single-point needles, fold the piece over and sew the side seam.
Sew around the top of the pumpkin and stuff with poly fill. Pull tightly to close the opening and sew closed.
The final step is to create the stem. Pick up stitches and make a single crochet around the top of the pumpkin. Work for a few rounds until the stem is as long as you like. On the last row, single crochet in every other stitch to decrease. Break yarn and weave in ends.
