How to Sew a Side Slit Skirt- No Pattern Necessary and beginner-friendly!
This easy-to-follow tutorial can be adjusted to any length and to a variety of sizes. I used rayon for this skirt because it is lightweight and it has a nice drape. This skirt features a side slit and a elastic waist. It took me approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Rayon fabric– 58 inches wide (I cut mine 40 inches long to make it a maxi length)
1/4 inch braided elastic
Sewing machine
Iron
Side Seam: Fold the fabric over and sew the side seam for 15 inches (from the top down). You can make the slit lower or higher by changing this measurement. Leave a 3/4 inch seam allowance.
Press the seam down. Fold it over and pressed it down again. (Folding the fabric over twice hides the unfinished edges and prevents the rayon from fraying).
To create the waistband: Press the waistband over 1/4 inches using an iron. Then, press it over again. Sew it down, leaving a 1 1/2 inch opening to thread the elastic through.
Measure the elastic around the waist. Cut 1 ½ inches off. Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic and feed it through the waistband. Sew ends together and sew the opening closed.
Try the skirt on to check the length. Adjust if necessary. If the length is suitable, press the hem down 1/4 inch. Then, fold the fabric over another 1/4 inch and sew it down.
