Following a plant-based diet is important to me and I try to impart my healthier eating habits to my kids. This can sometimes be a challenge, especially when I have a 5-year-old that would live solely on candy if I let him! When it comes to raising a picky eater, I’ve found that it is best to make nutritious swaps. Instead of plain white bread, we use Arnold Organic White Bread made with Whole Wheat.
Arnold Organic White Bread made with Whole Wheat features Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, which immediately caught my son’s attention and prompted him to ask for a slice. It is made with organic whole grains as the first ingredient, and it provides a good source of Vitamins A, D, & E. The bread has a soft and smooth texture.

One thing I can actually get my son to eat is toast. Today, I’m going to share 4 easy ways we like to enjoy plant-based toast.
I like to encourage my son to help out with simple meals. It gives him the chance to exercise his independence and it gives me the opportunity to teach him about plant-based foods and their benefits.
Another thing we like to discuss at home is how to take care of the planet. My son was really impressed to learn that baked using renewable wind energy. Not only is Arnold Organic White Bread made with Whole Wheat USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified, but it’s also a member of 1% for the Planet. Arnold Organic Bread donates a portion of this bread’s revenues to support environmental causes.
Our favorite ways to make toast are avocado and hummus, low sugar coconut milk yogurt and berries, smashed avocado and roasted chickpeas, and peanut butter with chia seed jam.
As for healthy swaps, I trade regular whole milk yogurt for the low-sugar plant-based variety. I also swap traditional jam, which is full of sugar, for homemade chia seed jam. Chia seed jam uses chia seeds, instead of sugar, to thicken the fruit which results in a much healthier spread. Finally, we trade regular bread for plant-based bread.
These 4 versions of plant-based toast are not only great for breakfast. They make a great after school snack or easy dinner. Most of these versions my son can prepare himself.
What a nice diversity in healthy toast! I have quite the craving for avocado toast now! 🙂
