Wide Rib Hat Knitting Pattern- a unique ribbed pattern that’s surprisingly simple to knit!
This Wide Rib Hat Knitting Pattern may look complicated but it’s actually beginner-friendly. If you can knit and purl, you can make this hat! I used one of my favorite chunky yarns for this project- Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. Once you get the hang of the pattern, this hat knits up really fast!
Wide Rib Hat Knitting Pattern
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Bonus Bundle in Dusk
Needles: Size US 11 circular- 16 inch, Size US 13 circular- 16 inch, Size US 13 double point needles
With the size 11 needles, cast on 54 sts. K1, P1 for 5 rows.
Switch to size 13 circular needles.
Row 1: *K2, P2, K1, P1, K1, P2* repeat around
Row 2: *K2, P3, K1, P3* repeat around
Row 3: *K2, P2, K1, P1, K1, P2* repeat around
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your hat measures 7 inches from the cast on edge, ending with a Row 2.
Shape crown:
(Switch to double point needles when necessary)
Row 1: *K2, P1, Purl 2 together x 3* repeat around
Row 2: *Knit 2 together, Purl 2 together x 2* repeat around
Row 3: *Purl 2 together, P* repeat around
Row 4: Purl 2 together repeat around
Break yarn, pull through remaining stitches. Pull to tighten. Weave in ends and attach faux fur pom pom.
