Yarn: Bernat Super Fluffee in Pine (1 skein)
Crochet hook: US L/11 (8 mm) crochet hook
Gauge: 7 sts and 5 rows = 4 inches with larger hook in pattern
Size: child size S/M (2-5), M/L (6-8 years)
Pattern instructions:
For the Hood:
Note: Ch 3 at the beginning of rnd or row counts as dc throughout.
Ch 36 (40). Join with slip st to first ch to form ring, being careful not to twist chain.
Note: Hood is worked with wrong side facing until divide for Face Opening.
Round 1: (WS). Ch 3. 1 dc in each ch around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. 36 (40) sts.
Round 2: Ch 3. Sl st in next dc. *1 dc in next dc. Sl st in next dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
Round 3: Ch 3. 1 dc in each st around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3.
Round 4: Same as 2nd rnd.
Repeat last 2 rnds 1 (2) time(s) more.
Divide for Face Opening:
Turn work inside out and beg working in rows as follows:
Row 1: (RS). Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 30 (34) sts. Turn. Leave rem 5 sts unworked. Cont working on 31 (35) sts as follows:
Row 2: Ch 3. *Sl st in in next dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Row 3 Ch 3. 1 dc in each st to end of row. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows for pattern until the work from divide measures approximately 5 (6) inches, ending on a wrong side row.
Shape Top of the Hood:
Row 1: (RS). Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 8 (9) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 5 (7) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 9 (10) sts. Turn. 27 (31) sts.
Row 2: Ch 3. *Sl st in in first dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 7 (8) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 3 (5) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 8 (9) sts. Turn. 23 (27) sts.
Row 4: Same as 2nd row.
Row 5: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 6 (7) sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 1 (3) st(s). (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 7 (8) sts. Turn. 19 (23) sts.
Size Kids M/L only:
Row 6: Ch 3. *Sl st in in first dc. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Row 7: Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 6 sts. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in next st. (Dc2tog) twice. 1 dc in each of next 7 sts. 19 sts.
Both sizes: Fasten off. Sew Top Hood seam.
Face Opening Edging
Join yarn with sl st to first unworked st at bottom of Face Opening.
Round 1: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 5 sts. Work 25 (30) sc evenly around Face Opening. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 (35) sts.
