Norwegian Fir Knit Stitch
Norwegian Fir Knit Stitch- a fun and easy stitch that creates a beautiful, lacy design!
This lovely stitch is commonly used for trim on cardigans and sweaters (on the yoke and/or down the sleeves). It could also be used for spring scarves. The pattern is light, airy and easy to knit! This intricate pattern is created using knit and purl stitches!
Terms found in this pattern: YO- yarn over. This means to To make a yarn over, you simply bring the knitting yarn (the “over” strand) over the needle between two existing stitches on one row, and then work that strand as a stitch when you work your way back to it in the next row.
Norwegian Fir Knit Stitch
(I used US size 8 needles and Premier Yarn Anti-Pill Everday Worsted in Admiral Blue)
Cast on a multiple of 12 sts + 1
- Row 1: (RS) P1, *p3, k5, p4; repeat from * to end.
- Row 2: Purl all stitches.
- Row 3: P2tog, *p2, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, p2, p3tog; repeat from * to end, ending last repeat with p2tog.
- Row 4: Purl all stitches.
- Row 5: P2tog, *p1, k2, yo, k3, yo, k2, p1, p3tog; repeat from * to end, ending last repeat with p2tog.
- Row 6: Purl all stitches.
- Row 7: P2tog; *k2, yo, k5, yo, k2, p3tog, repeat from * to end, ending last repeat with p2tog.
- Row 8: Purl all stitches. Repeat rows 1-8 for pattern.
