These Baby Mitts couldn’t be easier to knit! They’re knit flat on single point needles using knit and purl stitches. There are some simple decreases made at the end by knitting 2 stitches together. This is a great knitting pattern for beginners and it’s also the perfect way to make use of scrap yarn!
Flat Knit Baby Mitts
Size 6-12 months
Needles: Size US 3 Single Point
Yarn: Loops & Threads Joy DK yarn
With the 1st color, Cast on 30 sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 11 rows.
With the 1st color, work in Stockinette Stitch for 16 rows.
Shape:
With the 3rd color,
Row 1: Knit 2 together, K10, Knit 2 together, K1, Knit 2 together, K10, Knit 2 together (25 sts).
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit 2 together, K8, Knit 2 together, K1, Knit 2 together, K8, Knit 2 together (21 sts).
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: Knit 2 together, K6, Knit 2 together, K1, Knit 2 together, K6, Knit 2 together (17 sts)
Row 6: Purl
Bind off. Fold mittens in half and sew seam. Weave in ends.
