DIY Shredded T
You can create this rope-like effect by simply pulling loose threads on a T shirt.
This DIY isn’t terribly difficult, but it is time consuming. It took me about 40 minutes to do each sleeve. Luckily, this doesn’t require too much attention and can be done while watching Netflix =)
Supplies:
- T shirt (I used a man’s undershirt– I dyed it grey]
- Sharp scissors
[Cut off the hem at the bottom of the sleeves] |
[Stretch the fabric a little as you work. Don’t pull the threads too hard or otherwise they will break]
[These next few steps are optional. My t shirt was really long so I cut off the bottom and gave it a asymmetrical hem] |
[Then I cut off the neckband to create a wide scoop neck] |
[I took some of the excess fabric left over from the bottom hem and I made a new neckband with it] |
[Happy shredding!] |

very VERY cool! I probably wouldn't have the patience, but I LOVE it!!
Gasp! Just what I needed! Thanks so much for sharing! Already got almost a sleeve done
I LOVE this! I am looking at my boring black tee right now, but I was wondering; have you tried to machine wash or do you hand&hang?
@Anonymous I've machined washed mine. The shredding shrinks up a bit in the dryer but you can pull it back into shape.
This is really amazing! Thanks for tutorial
P.S. I love your hair! ๐
Wow. Good collection! Wow! These are nice photos! ๐ Nature is really the best inspiration for art. Well, that is of course my opinion. ๐ Beautiful Wallpaper, HD Wallpaper, Computer Wallpaper

Thank you! I love it! This is my weekend project.
What happens when you wash this shirt?
The shredded parts will knot slightly. After the shirt is dry you can gently pull them apart from each other.
