Colorwork Mountain Hat Knitting Pattern

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Kale, Grey Marble, and Navy
Needles: Circular needle size US 13 (9 mm), 16 inches
Gauge: 11 sts + 15 rounds = about 4 inches
Size: Women’s one size
Note: Colorwork pattern is worked following the Chart. When changing yarn color, do not cut the old color. Carry color not in use along the wrong side (inside) of the piece. carrying color across 5 or more sts, twist yarns on WS to prevent overly long strands (floats) on the wrong side.
Pattern instructions:
With the green yarn, cast on 44 sts.
Place a marker for the beginning of the round.
Rounds 1-8: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
Round 9: Knit.
Charted Pattern
Beginning in the lower right corner of the Chart, work in St st (k every st in every rnd) and change yarn color following the Chart until all 22 rounds of the Chart have been completed.
Shape the crown:
Round 1: K6, k2tog — repeat to last 4 stitches, knit 4 (39 sts)
Round 2: Knit all stitches.
Round 3: K5, k2tog — repeat to last 4 stitches, knit 4. (34 sts)
Round 4: Knit all stitches.
Round 5:K4, k2tog — repeat to last 4 stitches, knit 4 (29 sts)
Round 6: K3, k2tog — repeat around to last 4 stitches, knit 4 (24 sts)
Round 7: K2, k2tog — repeat around. (18 sts)
Round 8: K1, k2tog — repeat around. (12 sts)
Finishing:
Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread tail through remaining sts and pull to close opening at top of Hat. Knot securely.
