    Yarn: Color 1- Lion Brand Heartlands in Canyonlands, Color 2- Loops & Threads Soft Classics in Taupe, Color 3- Lion Brands Jeans in Topstitch
    Needles: Size U.S. 6 straight knitting needles
    Gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches in stocking stitch
    Sizes: 2/4, 6/8, 10/12 years old

    Pattern instructions:
    With Color 1, cast on 86 (94102) sts. 
    Row 1 (RS). *K2. P2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2.
    Row 2: *P2. K2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. P2.

    Rep last 2 rows of (K2. P2) ribbing until work from beg measures 5 1/2 (6 6 1/2) inches, ending on a WS row. Break Color 1. With Color 2, cont in (K2. P2) ribbing until work from beg measures 8 1/2 (9 9 1/2) inches ending on a WS row.

    Shape The Crown:
    Break Color 2 and switch to Color 3.
    Row 1: (RS). *K2tog. P2tog. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2tog. 43 (4751) sts rem.
    Row 2: *P1. K1. Rep from * to last st. P1.
    Row 3: *K1. P1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
    Rows 4 to 6: Rep last 2 rows once more, then repeat 2nd row once.
    Row 7: *K2tog. Rep from * to last st. K1. 22 (2426) sts rem.
    Row 8: Purl.
    Row 9: *K2tog. Rep from * to end of row. 11 (1213) sts rem.

    Finishing:
    Break yarn, leaving a long end. Draw the end through the remaining sts. Pull tightly. Fasten securely. Sew center back seam.
