Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver in Cafe Latte
Needles: Size US 8 straight knitting needles
Gauge: 4 inches = 14 sts
Size: the hat is very stretchy and will easily fit kids age 6-10.
Pattern instructions:
Cast on 70 sts.
Row 1: (Right Side). K2. *P2. K2. Repeat from * to end of row.
Row 2: P2. *K2. P2. Rep from* to end of row.
Repeat these 2 rows until the piece from the beginning measures 9 inches, ending on a wrong side row.
Shape the Crown:
Row 1: (RS). K2. *Purl 2 stitches together. K2. Rep from * to end of row. (53 sts)
Row 2: P2. *K1. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
Row 3: K2. *P1. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
Row 4: Same as 2nd row.
Row 5: *K2tog. P1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2. (36 sts)
Row 6: P2. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Row 7: *K2tog. Rep from * to end of row. (18 sts)
Row 8: Purl.
Break yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave the end of the yarn through the 18 sts on the knitting needle. Pull to tighten and sew the back seam.
