Yarn: Lion Brand Pound of Love in Cinnabar
Needles: Size US 5 double point knitting needles, size US 6 double point knitting needles
Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches with size US 6 needles in stockinette stitch
Size: Women’s one size
Pattern instructions:
Right glove:
For the Cuff:
** Cast on 42 sts with the smaller needles. Divide evenly onto 3 needles. Join in round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place marker.
Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 4 inches.
Change to larger needles and knit 7 rounds. **
Shape the Right Thumb Gusset:
Round 1: Knit 22 sts. Kfb in each of next 2 sts. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 2 and alternate rounds: Knit across.
Round 3: Knit 22. Kfb. K2. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 5: Knit 22. Kfb. K4. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 7: Knit 22. Kfb. K6. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 9: Knit 22. Kfb. K8. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd. (52 sts)
Round 11: Knit 22. Kfb. K10. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd. (54 sts)
Next round: Knit.
Next round: Knit 36. Slip last 14 sts onto length of yarn (thumb opening). Knit to end of rnd.
***Next Round: Knit to end of rnd, casting on 2 sts over slipped sts. (42 sts)
Knit in rnds until work after ribbing measures 4 inches.
For the 1st Finger:
Knit first 14 sts. Slip these sts onto a length of yarn. Knit 14 sts. Cast on 2 sts. Divide these 16 sts onto 3 needles. Join in round. Knit to end of the round. Knit in rnds until finger measures 2 1/2 inches.
Shape top:
Next round: (K2tog) 8 times (8 sts)
Next round: (K2tog) 4 times. (4 sts)
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through remaining sts. Pull to tighten and fasten securely.
To Make 2nd Finger:
Slip next 5 sts from the length of yarn. Turn. Cast on 2 sts. Turn. Knit last 5 sts. Pick up and knit 2 sts at base of first finger. Divide these 14 sts onto 3 needles. Join in rnd. Knit to end of rnd. Knit in rnds until 2nd finger measures 2 3/4 inches.
Shape Top:
Next round: (K2tog) 7 times. (7 sts)
Next round: Knit.
Next round: (K2tog) 3 times. Knit 1. (4 sts)
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through remaining sts. Pull to tighten and fasten securely.
To Make the 3rd Finger:
Slip next 5 sts from the length of yarn. Turn. Cast on 2 sts. Turn. Knit last 5 sts. Pick up and knit 2 sts at base of second finger. Divide these 14 sts onto 3 needles. Join in rnd. Knit to end of rnd.
Knit in rounds until 3rd finger measures 2 1/2 inches.
Shape Top:
Next round: (K2tog) 7 sts. (7 sts)
Next round: Knit.
Next round: (K2tog) 3 times. Knit 1. (4 sts)
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through remaining sts. Pull to tighten and fasten securely.
To Make the 4th Finger:
Slip last 8 sts from thread. Pick up and knit 3 sts at base of third finger. Divide these 11 sts onto 3 needles. Join in rnd. Knit to end of rnd. Knit in rounds until the 4th finger measures 2 inches.
Shape Top:
Next round: (K2tog) 5 times. Knit 1. (6 sts)
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through remaining sts. Pull to tighten and fasten securely.
Thumb:
Join yarn to base of thumb, pick up and knit 2 sts. Knit 14 sts from length of yarn. Divide these 14 sts. onto 3 needles.
Knit in rnds until work from pick up rnd measures 2 1/4 inches.
Next round: (K2. K2tog) 4 times. 12 sts.
Next round: (K1. K2tog) 4 times. (K2tog) (9 sts)
Next round: (K2tog) 4 times. (4 sts)
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through remaining sts. Pull to tighten and fasten securely.***
LEFT GLOVE:
Work from ** to ** as given for Right Glove, ending before Shape thumb gusset.
Shape Left Thumb Gusset:
Round 1: Knit 18. Kfb in each of next 2 sts. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 2 and alternate rounds: Knit.
Round 3: Knit 18. Kfb. K2. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 5: Knit 18. Kfb. K4. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd.
Round 7: Knit 18. Kfb. K6. Kfb. Knit to end of rnd.
