Yarn: Lion Brand Pound of Love in Cinnabar
Needles: Size US 8 circular knitting needles-16 inch, Size US 8 double point knitting needles, cable needle
Gauge: 17 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches
Size: women’s one size

Abbreviations:
C3B = Slip next stitch onto cable needle and leave at back of work. K2, then K1 from cable needle. 
C4F = Slip next 2 stitches onto cable needle and leave at front of work. K2, then K2 from cable needle.
C6B = Slip next 3 stitches onto cable needle and leave at back
of work. K3, then K3 from cable needle
C6F = Slip next 3 stitches onto cable needle and leave at front of work. K3, then K3 from cable needle

Pattern instructions:

With the circular needles, cast on 84 sts. Join in round, placing marker on first st.
Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 2 inches.

Switch to larger circular needles. 
Next round: *K7. M1. Rep from * around. (96 sts)

Proceed in Cable Pattern as follows:
Round 1: *K9. P3. Rep from * around. 
Round 2: Same as 1st round.
Round 3: *C6F. K3. P3. Rep from * around.
Rounds 4 to 6: Same as 1st round.
Round 7: *K3. C6B. P3. Rep from * around.
Round 8: Same as 1st round.
Rounds 9 to 48: Rep 1st to 8th rounds 5 times more.

Shape crown:
Switch to double point needles when necessary.
Round 1: *ssk. K5. K2tog. P3. Rep from * around. (80 sts)
Round 2: *K7. P3. Rep from * around.
Round 3: *K7. P2tog. P1. Rep from* around. (72 sts)
Round 4:*C4F. K3. P2. Rep from * around.
Round 5: *ssk. K3. K2tog. P2. Rep from * around. (56 sts)
Round 6: *K5. P2. Rep from * around.
Round 7: *K1. C3B. P2tog. P1. Rep from * around. (48 sts)
Round 8: *ssk. K2. P2. Rep from * around. (40 sts)

Round 10: *ssk. K1. P2tog. Rep from * around. (24 sts)

Break yarn, leaving a long end. Pull the end through remaining stitches and pull tightly. Fasten securely. Make and attach pom pom.
