Knit Star Christmas Ornaments
Yarn: any #3 weight yarn
Needles: Size US 4 single point knitting needles
Gauge: not necessary for this pattern
Abbreviations in this pattern:
SKP– slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over. To complete this technique, you must slip one stitch knitwise, knit the next stitch, then pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch and off of the needle. This is a single decrease and it slants to the left.
KFB– Knitting in the front and back of the same stitch is one way to increase the row by one stitch.
Pattern instructions:
(make 2 for each star)
Cast on 5 sts.
Row 1: [Kfb] around. 10 sts
Row 2: Purl across.
Row 3: [Kfb] around. 20 sts
Row 4: Purl across.
Row 5: *Kfb, k2, kfb; rep from *. 30 sts
Row 6: Purl across.
Row 7: *Kfb, k4, kfb; rep from *. 40 sts
Row 8: Purl across.
Row 9: *Kfb, k6, kfb; rep from *. 50 sts
Row 10: Purl across.
Row 11: K10, turn.
Row 12: P10, turn.
Row 13: Skp, k6, k2tog, turn.
Row 14: P8, turn.
Row 15: Skp, k4, k2tog, turn.
Row 16: P6, turn.
Row 17: Skp, k2, k2tog, turn.
Row 18: P4, turn.
Row 19: Skp, k2tog
Row 20: P2tog, cut yarn and fasten off, leaving a long tail. Leaving a long tail, reattach yarn where you left off on the main portion of the star. Repeat Rows 11-20 for each point.
How to assemble the star ornaments
Sew the center of each star closed.
Place one start on top of the other- wrong sides together. Sew together around the points, leaving an opening to add the fiber fill.
Stuff the star and sew the seam closed.
