Flat Knit Plush Bunny Knitting Pattern

Yarn and needles: You can use either #4 worsted weight yarn and size US 7 single point needles (for the smaller bunny) or #5 bulky yarn and size US 9 single point knitting needles (for the larger bunny)

Gauge: Not necessary for this knitted project

Also needed: pom pom maker, poly fill stuffing, button or safety eyes, tapestry needle

Sizes: small bunny measures 7 1/2 inches from the top of the ear to the bottom of the foot. The larger bunny measures 10 inches.

Pattern instructions:

For the body:

Cast on 8 sts.

Row 1: Kfb in each stitch (16 sts)

Row 2: Purl across.

Row 3: [Kfb, Knit 1] 8 times (24 sts)

Row 4: Purl across.

Row 5: [K1, Kfb, K1] 8 times (32 sts)

Row 6: Purl across.

Row 7: [K2, Kfb, K1] 8 times (40 sts)

Rows 8-16: Work in Stockinette stitch rows.

Row 17: [K4, k2tog, k4] 4 times. (36 sts)

Row 18: Purl across.

Row 19: [K3, k2tog, k4] 4 times. (32 sts)

Row 20: Purl across.

Row 21: [K3, k2tog, k3] 4 times. (28 sts)

Row 22: Purl across.

Row 23: [K2, k2tog, k3] 4 times. (24 sts)

Row 24: Purl across.

Row 25: [K2, k2tog, k2] 4 times. (20 sts)

Row 26: Purl across.

Row 27: [K1, k2tog, k2] 4 times. (16 sts)

Row 28: Purl across.

Row 29: [K2tog] 8 times. (8 sts)

Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Pull to tighten.

For the ears (make 2):

Cast on 9 sts.

Rows 1-11: Knit across.

Row 12: Knit 1, knit 2 togehter, knit to the end. (8 sts)

Repeat row 12 until 3 sts remain.

Next row: Knit 1, Knit 2 together (2 sts)

Next row: k1, psso (pass slip stitch over). (1 st)

Break yarn and pull through remaining stitch.

For the arms (make 2):

Cast on 12 sts.

Knit for 7 rows. Break yarn, pull through remaining stitches and pull to tighten. Fold over and sew the side seam.

For the legs (make 2):

Cast on 14 sts.

Knit for 10 rows. Break yarn, pull through remaining stitches and pull to tighten. Fold over and sew the side seam.

Sew the back seam of the bunny body leaving a small opening. Stuff with poly-fill, add the eyes and sew closed.

Pinch the bottom of the ear together and sew both of them to the top of the head.

Stuff the arms and sew them to the side of the rabbit. Do the same with the legs.

Embroider the nose on. You can also sew or glue a pink felt triangle on as a nose.

Sew on the pom pom tail.
