Straight Needle Slippers Knitting Pattern- ideal for beginner knitters or anyone looking for a fast & easy project.
If you’re new to knitting, most slipper patterns might seem intimidating. Most patterns require double point needles and intricate toe and heel shaping. The shape is created by some simple decreases. These slipper socks are knit using a combination of rib stitch (knit, purl) and garter stitches.

Straight Needle Slippers Knitting Pattern

Yarn: Wool of the Andes Worsted Weight yarn (Aurora Heather) 2 skeins
Needles: Size US 7 Single point knitting needles
Gauge: 2 inches= 8 sts in Stockinette stitch
Size: Footbed measures 8 inches- roughy a woman’s size 8 (length can be changed- instructions in pattern)
Pattern instructions:
(Make 2)
Cuff:
Cast on 44 sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 4 inches, ending with a wrong side.
Knit 12 rows in Garter stitch.
Next row: Bind off 11 stitches and knit to the end of the row.
Next row: Bind off 11 stitches and knit to the end of the row.
Knit the remaining 22 stitches for 40 rows.
(this is the part where you can adjust for your shoe size. 40 rows will fit a size 7/8 shoe.
Decrease rows:
Row 1: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, knit to the last 3 stitches, knit 2 together, knit 1.
Row 2: Knit across the row.
Repeat these 2 rows until you have 12 stitches left.
Increase rows:
Row 1: Knit 1, Make 1 stitch, knit to the last 2 stitches, make 1 stitch, knit 1.
Row 2: Knit across.
Repeat these 2 rows until you have 22 stitches.
Knit for 40 rows (or the length of your foot established before)
Decrease rows:
Row 1: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, knit to the last 3 stitches, knit 2 together, knit 1.
Row 2: Knit across the row.
Increase rows:
Row 1: Knit 1, Make 1 stitch, knit to the last 2 stitches, make 1 stitch, knit 1.
Row 2: Knit across.
Repeat these 2 rows until you have 22 stitches. Bind off.
Finishing:
Thisis what the piece looks like when you are finished knitting.
Fold the back seam over (where the ribbing is located) and sew closed.
Sew the sides of the slipper sole.
