Mens Basketweave Hat Knitting Pattern
Yarn: Lion Brand Heartland Thick & Quick in Olympic (Worsted weight yarn, 1 skein)
Needles: Size US 7 circular, 16 inch, size US 8 circular, 16 inch circular knitting needles and size US 8 double point needles
Also needed: stitch marker
Gauge: 2 inches = 8 sts.
Size: Men’s one size fits most
Pattern instructions:
With the smaller needles, cast on 96 sts. Join ends together and place marker. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 3 inches.
Switch to the larger needles.
Rounds 1 and 2: *K1. P1. K1. P5. Rep from * around.
Round 3 and 4: *K1. P1. K5. P1. Rep from * around.
Rounds 5 and 6: *K1. P5. K1. P1. Rep from * around.
Rounds 7 and 8: *K5. P1. K1. P1. Rep from * around.
Rounds 9 and 10: P4. K1. P1. K1. *P5. K1. P1. K1. Rep from * to last st. P1.
Rounds 11 and 12: K3. P1. K1. P1. *K5. P1. K1. P1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2.
Rounds 13 and 14: P2. K1. P1. K1. *P5. K1. P1. K1. Rep from * to last 3 sts. P3.
Rounds 15 and 16: (K1. P1) twice. *K5. P1. K1. P1. Rep from *to last 4 sts. K4.
Repeat rounds 1-16 once more.
Shape crown:
Switch to dpns when necessary.
Round 1: *K1. P1. K1. P2tog. P3. Rep from * around. (84 sts)
Round 2: *K1. P1. K1. P4. Rep from * around.
Round 3: *K1. P1. K4. P1. Rep from * around.
Round 4: *K1. P1. K2tog. K2. P1. Rep from * around. (72 sts)
Round 5: *K1. P2tog. P1. K1. P1. Rep from * around. (60 sts)

Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches using a tapestry needle. Pull to gather and weave in ends.
