Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Blue Mist (#4 weight yarn, 1 skein)
Needles: Size US 6 single point knitting needles, Size US 7 Single point knitting needles
Gauge: (with the larger needles) 2 inches= 9 sts.
Size: Men’s one size
Pattern instructions:
Right mitten:
**Cast on 43 sts.
Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 3 inches for the cuff.
Knit next row decreasing 1 stitch in the middle (42 sts)
Knit in Stockinette Stitch for 7 rows. **
Shape Thumb Gusset:
Row 1 (Right Side): K23. (Inc1) twice. Knit to the end of the row.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K23. Inc1. K2. Inc1. Knit to the end of the row.
Row 4: Purl.
Row 5: K23. Inc1. K4. Inc1. Knit to the end of the row.
Row 6: Purl.
Row 7: K23. Inc1. K6. Inc1. Knit to end of row. (50 sts.)
Row 8: Purl.
Row 9: K23. Inc1. K8. Inc1. Knit to end of row. (52 sts)
Row 10: Purl.
Row 11: K23. Inc1. K10. Inc1. Knit to end of row. (54 sts)
Row 12: Purl.
Row 13: K23. Inc1. K12. Inc1. Knit to end of row. (56 sts.)
Row 14: Purl.
Next row: (Right Side) K37. Turn. Cast on 2 sts. Slip remaining sts onto a stitch holder.

Continue working in stockingette stitch on these 18 sts until Thumb measures 3 3/4 inches from the start of the Shape Thumb Gusset. End with a purl row.
Next row: (Right Side). *With A, K2tog. Rep from * to end of row. (9 sts)
Next row: (P2tog) 4 times. Purl 1. (5 sts)
Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail end through rem 5 sts. Draw up and fasten securely. Sew the thumb seam.
With Right Side of work facing, join yarn to remaining sts on stitch holder and
knit to the end of the row.
Next row: Purl across, picking up 2 sts purlwise at base of Thumb. (42 sts)
