Straight Needle Baby Booties Knitting Pattern- fast & easy beginner pattern!
Hank knit baby booties make a great gift. There are tons of patterns available but most of them require double needles and complicated shaping. Not this knitting pattern! These baby booties are knit on single point knitting needles in a simple garter and rib stitch.
This is a quick knit and since it uses straight knitting needles and basic stitches (garter st), it’s ideal for beginners.

(a note about this pattern- M1 means make 1 stitch. This increase is made by lifting the horizontal thread lying between
the needles and placing it onto the left needle. Knit through the back of the loop)
Straight Needle Baby Booties Knitting Pattern
Pattern instructions:
Size 6-9 months
Gauge: 21 sts + 48 rows = 4 in. in Garter Stitch
Yarn: Lion Brand Jeans in Capri (yarn weight #4, worsted weight yarn)
Needles: Size US 4 single point, Size US 5 straight needles
Also needed: tapestry needle
(make 2)
With the larger needles cast on 27 sts.
Row 1: Knit 13, place marker, knit 1, place marker, knit to end.
Row 2: Knit 1, M1, knit to marker, M1, slip marker, k 1, slip marker, M1, knit to
last st, M1, knit 1 (31 sts)
Repeat the last row 2 more times (39 sts)
Work 11 rows in Garter stitch- remove markers on the first row.
Decrease:
Next Row: Knit 16, k2tog, place marker, k 3, place marker, k2tog, knit 16 (37 sts)
Next Row: Knit to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, slip marker, knit 3, slip marker, k2tog, knit to end (35 sts)
Repeat the last row 4 more times (27 sts)
Knit 2 rows.
Change to size 4 needles and work in K1, P1 Rib for 3 in. Bind off loosely in Rib stitch.
How to assemble the booties:
Fold over and sew the seam. Weave in ends.
