Super Easy 3 Square Sweater [knitting pattern]

Last month I posted a children’s version of this sweater. I finally finished the adult version and I’m really happy with the way it turned out! I make a few changes. I used Bernat Home Dec yarn which has a good weight and hangs nicely. Since it’s a cotton/nylon blend it’s perfect for this transitional weather. The other change I made was the hem. I made it longer in the back to create some asymmetry.

Yarn: Bernat Home Dec (2 skeins- I used Pebble Beach Varigate)
Needles: size 11 straight
Free Knitting Pattern
Gauge: 2sts = 1 inch
Sizes Small, Medium, Large, X-Large
For the front square:
Cast on 54 (58, 62, 66) sts. Work in Garter Stitch until piece measures 18 (19, 20, 21, 22) inches. Bind off.
For the back square:
Cast on 54 (58, 62, 66) sts. Work in Garter Stitch until piece measures 23 (24, 25, 26, 27) inches.
For the turtleneck:
Cast on 54 (58, 62, 66) sts. Work in Garter Stitch until the piece measures 10 inches. Bind off.
Finishing
1)  Sew the pieces together at the top (to make the shoulders) – 4 1/2 inches on each side. Fold over and sew the side seams together, leaving a 12 inch opening for arm holes.
 2) Fold the remaining piece in half lengthwise to create the turtleneck. Sew the side seam. Sew the turtleneck on to the sweater.

  1. Thanks – looks easy enuf for this beginner! I made sweaters & stuff 20 years ago – so it's like being a beginner again. If I want front & back to be same length do I just make the squares the same size? Like the front one? Thanks!
