First things first- Robert and I are expecting a baby boy at the beginning of May!!!!!!! We’re so excited to meet him and we can’t wait to start this new chapter in our lives!
I’ve been going overboard knitting baby clothes- seriously, this baby is going to have more clothes than I do! This hat pattern is one of my favorites:
Pattern-
(circumference of hat is 11 inches)
Size US 10 1/2 needles
Yarn Red Heart Soft in Turquoise
Cast on 40 sts. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 1 inch. Switch to stockinette stitch and work until hat measures 5” from CO edge.
To shape the crown:
Row 1: K2, K2tog [repeat until end]
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K1, K2tog [repeat until end]
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K2tog
To finish- cut the yarn leaving a long tail.Thread through remaining stitches and pull tightly, sew seam in back.

Congrats! You might want to note that 11" may be a bit snug. Most charts suggest a 12" diameter for preemies and a 14" diameter for newborns.
How do you increase the diameter of a pattern like this? I am new to knitting and don't really understand how to adjust the patterns.
