Plush Beetlejuice Knitting Pattern

Plush Beetlejuice Knitting Pattern

Yarn: Loops & Threads Soft Classics in Mushroom, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Dark Grey Heather, Starlette yarn in Lime
Needles: Size US 6 single point knitting needles
Also needed: fiber-fill, yarn needle, purple fabric marker, crochet hook (to make the hair)
Gauge: not necessary for this project
Size: Measures approximately 11 1/2 inches tall

Pattern instructions:

For the Left Leg
Cast on 10 sts with the grey yarn.
Row 1: (Kfb. K1) 5 times. 15 sts. 
Row 2: Purl across.
Row 3: (Kfb. K2) 5 times. 20 sts.
Row 4: Purl across.
Row 5: Knit 2 sts with the grey yarn, 2 sts with the mushroom yarn. Repeat across to make pattern.
Work in Stockinette stitch until work from beg measures approx 3 inches ending on a WS row. Break yarn, leaving sts on a st holder.

For the Right Leg
Work as given for Left Leg. Do not break yarn.

For the Body:
Work in stripe pattern.
1st row: (RS). K20 across Right Leg. K20 across Left Leg. 40 sts total. PM at each end of last row.
Work in stockinette stitch st until work from marked row measures approx 1 1/2 inches, ending on a WS row.
Work 2 rows in the grey yarn, decreasing 1 stitch on both ends. End on a WS row. (38 sts)
Next row: Knit 16 in stripe pattern, knit 6 stitches with the mushroom yarn, knit 16 sts in stripe pattern.
Continue working in this new stripe pattern for 2 inches.

For the Shoulders:
(work in the new stripe pattern established above)
1st row: K7. (K2tog) 4 times. K10. (K2tog) 4 times. K7. 32 sts.
Next row: Purl across.
Next row: K5. (K2tog) 4 times. K6. (K2tog) 4 times. K5. 24 sts.
Next row: Purl across.

Shape head:
Break the grey yarn and work only with the mushroom.
1st row: *K1. Kfb. Rep from * to end of row. 36 sts.
Work in Stockinette stitch for 19 rows. Break yarn.

For the Arm:
(make 2)
Cast on 20 sts with the mushroom yarn.
Work in stripe pattern (2 sts in mushroom, 2 in grey, repeat across row)
Work in stockinette stitch for 20 rows, ending on a WS row.
Next row: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2. 14 sts.
Next row: Purl across.
Next row: *K2tog. Rep from * to end of row. 7 sts. Break yarn and thread through rem sts.
Fasten securely.

For the Tie:
With the charcoal yarn, cast on 2 sts.
Row 1: KFB in each stitch (4 sts)
Row 2: Knit across.
Row 3: KFB in the first st and the last (6 sts)
Knit each row until the piece measures 2 1/2 inches for the beginning.

Finishing:
Sew the center back seam of Head and Body to marked row leaving an opening for stuffing. Add the eyes. Make a running stitch around the top of the head and pull to close.
Stuff Head and Body. Sew Leg seams, leaving feet open for stuffing. Stuff Legs. Sew opening closed. Gather round cast on sts of Legs and pull in tightly. Sew Arm seams. Stuff Arms. Sew top of Arm closed and sew to Body.

Draw around the eyes with the fabric marker. Cut sections of green yarn for the hair. Using a crochet hook, lift up stitches at the head. Fold the yarn in half and pull the loop through the stitch. Take the ends of the yarn and pull the through the loop. Repeat until the head is covered with hair.
