Today’s post is sponsored by Vaseline® Intensive Care™ Essential Healing Lotion, all thoughts, words, and opinions are my own.

Winter in NY can be rough. Last week there was a huge snowstorm and now we’re experiencing downpours and 50mph winds! Needless to say, Indigo and I have had to find our fun indoors. I’ve partnered with the Vaseline® Intensive Care™ Essential Healing Lotion team to share some of my winter skin survival tips as well as a fun DIY to keep your little ones occupied indoors.

Indigo and I both have sensitive skin that tends to be dry. The wind and cold outdoors combined with the dry, heat indoors wreaks havoc on our skin! Also, I’m constantly washing my hands during the day which dries them out even more. To combat dryness I apply Vaseline® Essential Healing lotion to myself and Indigo every day. Vaseline® Essential Healing leaves skin deeply moisturized and looking noticeably healthier.

Finding activities to do indoors with a toddler can be a challenge! This DIY Cloud Dough is my go-to toddler craft. It’s perfect for sensory play and it keeps little ones busy and entertained. It’s also easy to make, inexpensive and totally safe! Win, win, win! Cloud Dough has a light, crumbly texture and it’s really fun to touch. I’ve got to admit, I play with it too =)
Supplies needed:
Flour
Vegetable oil
Food coloring (optional)
How to make: You’ll need 1/2 cup of oil for every 4 cups of flour. Add a few drops of food coloring  (optional) Thoroughly mix together. I use a spoon at first and then mix with my hands. You’ll know it’s ready when it’s clumpy and maintains its shape when you squeeze it.

I know what you’re thinking…”That looks very messy!” Cleaning up the Cloud Dough is actually easy. I either sweep or vacuum up any clumps that fall on the floor. Since there’s oil in the mix, the Cloud Dough isn’t “dusty” like regular flour, and as long as it doesn’t get wet, the food coloring won’t leave any trace behind.
After playtime I wash Indigo’s and my hands and apply some Vaseline® Essential Healing lotion. Indigo loves rubbing the lotion on his hands. It’s so cute!

How to Make Woodburned Coasters- Great Handmade Hostess Gift!

How to Make Woodburned Coasters- Great Handmade Hostess Gift!

I loved the look of anything wood burned, plus it’s really fun to do! Best of all, you don’t need to be artistically inclined to draw a great image. You can transfer any image to the wood using graphite paper. Then, all you have to do is trace. Easy enough, right?

The holidays are quickly approaching and that means visiting friends and family. These wood burned coasters make the perfect holiday hostess gift.  Just pair with a bottle of wine and you’re good to go!

Supplies:
Unfinished wood coasters
Wood burner
Graphite paper
Printed out image (I used this image)
Spray on Sealer

Resize the image so it fits on the coaster and print it out. Choose one that has a lot of contrast. If you’re looking for something simple, a plain outline works well.

Cut out your image. Place the coaster on the bottom, graphite paper on top, then the image. Trace around the image with a pencil.

Remove the paper and you’ll see that the image has been transferred to the coaster.

Wood burn over the tracing lines. Here are some tips for successful wood burning:
1) Go slow and keep you hand steady on a flat surface (not up in the air) while you work.
2) Keep the wood burned at a medium temperature.
To make the other coaster, I reversed the image in Photoshop.
Spray with a coat of sealer to protect the coasters when you are finished.

How to Make Faux Fur Pom Poms

How to Make Faux Fur Pom Poms     Knit hats adorned with big, furry pom poms are everywhere right now. I had some leftover scraps of faux fur from Indigo’s Halloween costume so I decided to make my own pom poms. This tutorial is really easy and a sewing machine isn’t even required. I machine sewed around my pom pom to prevent it from shedding. Some types of faux fur shed worse than others. Mine sheds like crazy!
These faux fur pom poms can be sewn on hats, scarves, throws or attached to bags as a charm.  Happy crafting!
Supplies:
Faux fur fabric
Poly fill
Needle & thread
(optional) sewing machine

I used a bowl with a 6 inch diameter- use a larger/smaller bowl for different sized poms. Trace around and cut out circle.
How to Make Faux Fur Pom Poms
Sew (either by machine or hand) a running stitch around the circumference of the circle.

Pull on the end of the thread to start gathering the circle.

Stuff with poly fill and pull the thread to gather the pom pom opening closer together.
