Easy Ear Flap Hat Knitting Pattern

Easy Ear Flap Hat Knitting Pattern- a beginner-friendly pattern for the perfect fall hat!

Easy Ear Flap Hat Knitting Pattern

It’s finally cool enough to start wearing knit hats and I couldn’t be happier!

This Easy Ear Flap Hat Knitting Pattern is knit in the round, using 2 strands of yarn at the same time. Doubling up the yarn is one of my favorite easy ways to add texture and interest to an otherwise simple design. If you’ve never tried knitting with two strands at once, don’t worry- it’s easy. You just have to make sure that knitting through both loops when you make a stitch.

The front flap and ear flaps are knit after the hat is completed. The stitches are picked up and knit, so you don’t have to stitch any pieces on separately.

This hat knits up fast thanks to the super bulky yarn and large needles!

How to Sew Fabric Pumpkins- Fast & Easy!

How to Sew Fabric Pumpkins- a quick & easy project for holiday decor!

How to Sew Fabric Pumpkins- Fast & Easy!I received such a great response to my Large Pumpkin Knitting Pattern (thanks, guys!) that I decided to make a version out of fabric. These fabric pumpkins take less than 15 minutes to make. They require no pattern and there’s minimal sewing involved.

This is a great project for making use of fabric remnants!

Supplies needed:

Fabric

Fiber fill

Yarn or twine

Felt (for leaves)

These pumpkins can be made in any size.  You want the size of your rectangle to measure roughly width= 2 times the height.

Fold your fabric over and sew the side seam.

To gather the ends of the pumpkin, you will need to use either a sewing machine or needle and thread. For heavier fabric (like the upholstery fabric I’m using), a large-eye needle and thread (on in the above picture, yarn) work best.

For thinner fabrics, like the orange silk pumpkin above, a baste stitch done a sewing machine is the easiest method.

Pull the thread to close the opening and knot.

This is what the bottom of the pumpkin will look like.

How to Sew Fabric Pumpkins- Fast & Easy!

Stuff with the pumpkin with fiber fill. Be sure to leave a few inches at the top so you can add a stitch to close it.

Run a stitch through the top of the pumpkin and pull to close.

Make a knot to secure.

Take a long length of yarn or twine and fold in half. Criss cross over the pumpkin to create the ridges.

For the stem, I used a stick I found outside. Add a small amount of glue to the bottom of the stick and press on to the pumpkin. Use the ends of the yarn to hold in place.

Slow Cooker Vegan Black Bean Pumpkin Chili- Hearty & Delicious!

Slow Cooker Vegan Black Bean Pumpkin Chili- all the flavors of fall!

Slow Cooker Vegan Black Bean Pumpkin Chili

I was hesitant about buying a slow cooker because I didn’t know how much I’d use it, but it turned out to be a great purchase. Slow cookers are such a time saver on busy days! Chili is one of my favorite meals to make. I love that I can add the ingredients, turn it on and that’s it. No standing over a stove or setting timers so meals don’t burn.

This Slow Cooker Vegan Black Bean Pumpkin Chili is hearty, delicious and it can be customized in many different ways. You can swap out the sweet potato for butternut squash, add pinto beans and/or carrots and adjust the spices to your liking.

This recipe makes a large quantity (4 big servings), so it’s ideal for leftovers or freezing.

Slow Cooker Vegan Black Bean Pumpkin Chili

To make, simply add all the ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until the sweet potato is tender.

Pumpkin Hat Knitting Pattern

Pumpkin Hat Knitting Pattern- get your little one harvest-ready with this festive hat!

Pumpkin Hat Knitting Pattern by Gina Michele

We’re in total fall mode over here….apple picking, baking and decorating the house.  There are some great pumpkin patches in the area, complete with elaborate playgrounds and games. We end up going several times. Naturally, a pumpkin hat for Indigo was in order! I love knitting seasonal hats for him.

This Pumpkin Hat Knitting Pattern uses a wide rib knit to mimic the ridges on a pumpkin. The stem is created by using double point needles on the last handful of stitches. The vines are crocheted separately and knotted on.

This hat is so cute for family pictures and to wear on fall activities!

Happy knitting!
