For the head:
Cast on 18 sts. Knit for 3 1/3 inches. Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Pull to tighten.
For the body:
Cast on 24 stitches. Knit for 4 1/2 inches. Break yarn and pull through remaining stitches. Pull to tighten.
For the legs (make 8):
Cast on 22 sts. Knit for 1 1/2 inches. Bind off.
For the pedipalps (the short leg-type appendages in the front)- make 2:
Cast on 8 sts. Knit for 5 rows. Bind off.
How to assemble the knit spider
For the body: Sew the side seam. Stuff with poly fill and make a running stitch around the top. Pull to gather and knot to secure.

For the pedipalps: fold the piece over and sew the long side seam. Sew to the front of the spider. Repeat with the other one.
