Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver in Cafe, small amount of #4 worsted weight red yarn for the bow
Crochet hook: 4.5mm crochet hook
Also needed: White buttons, rick rack, yarn needle, fiber fill
Gauge: 15 sc and 16 rows = 4 inches
Size: approximately 5 1/2 inches tall
Note: Do not join at end of rounds. Work in spiral in continuous rounds. Move marker onto first st at beg of each round.
Pattern instructions:
For the head:
With the brown yarn, chain 2 sts.
Round 1: 6 sc in second chain from hook. Place marker on first sc.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around. 12 sc.
Round 3: *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. 18 sc.
Round 4: *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * around. 24 sc.
Rounds 5 to 8: 1 sc in each sc around.
Round 9: *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * to end of rnd. 18 sts.
Round 10: *Sc2tog. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. 12 sts. Stuff Head.
Round 11: (Sc2tog) 6 times.
Fasten off, leaving a tail approximately 8 inches long. Thread tail through remaining sts and pull tightly to draw opening closed.
For the Legs:
For the first leg:
**With the brown yarn, chain 2.
Round 1: Ch 8 sc in second chain from hook. Place marker on first sc.
Round 2: 1 sc in each sc around.
Rounds 3 to 5: 1 sc in each sc around.**
Fasten off, leaving a tail approximately 3 inches long.
For the Second Leg:
Work from ** to ** as given for First Leg. Do not fasten off at end of 5th rnd.
For the Body:
Join the Legs:
Round 1: 2 sc in first sc of Second Leg (place marker on first sc). 2 sc in first sc of First Leg to join. 1 sc in each of next 6 sc of FirstLeg. 2sc in last sc. 2sc in next sc of Second Leg. 1sc in each of next 6 sc of Second Leg. 20 sc.
Rounds 2 to 5: 1 sc in each sc around.
Rounds 6: *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Rep from * around. 16 sts.
Round 7: 1 sc in each st around.
Round 8: *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * around. 12 sts.
Stuff Body.
Fasten off.
For the Arms:
Work from ** to ** as given for First leg.
Rounds 2 to 6: 1 sc in each sc around. 1 Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew to body.
Stuff Arms lightly.
Using tails, sew Arms to either side of Body, making sure they are centered evenly.
For the Bow Tie:
With the red yarn, ch 55.
Fasten off. Tie into bow around neck.
Finishing: Sew on button eyes and buttons on body. Sew on a yarn smile mouth.
