Ball Christmas Ornaments Crochet Pattern
Abbreviations:
- Ch = chain
- Sc = single crochet
- Hdc- half double crochet
- Dc- double crochet
- Puff st = (Yoh and draw up a long loop) 3 times in indicated stitch. 7 loops on hook. Yoh and draw through 6 loops on hook. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook – puff st made.
Yarn: Loops & Threads Soft Classics in Mushroom, Ivy, and Bright red
Crochet hook: size US I9/ 5.5mm
Gauge: not necessary for this project
Also needed: fiber fill
Size: Ornaments measure approximately 3 1/2 inches across
Pattern instructions:
(Make 2 for each ornament)
(You can switch the yarn every round or alternate between two colors- see pics for reference)
Round 1: Ch 2. 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join.
Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc and ch-1).1 dc in same sp as sl st. (1dc. Ch1. 1dc) in each of next 5 sc. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of starting ch. 12 dc and 6 ch-1 spaces.
Round 3: Sl st to next ch-1 sp. Ch 2. *(Puff st. Ch 2. Puff st all in next ch-1 sp. Skip next 2 dc. Rep from * 5 times more. Join. 12 puff sts and 6 ch-2 sps.
Round 4: Ch 2. 1 hdc in first puff st. 3 hdc in next ch-2 sp. *1 hdc in each of next 2 puff sts. 3 hdc in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * to last puff st. 1 hdc in last puff st. Join and fasten off. 30 hdc.
Finishing:
Place the two sides of the ornament together. Join halves together with slip stitch seam, leaving opening to add fiber fill. Stuff the ornament and crochet the rest of the opening closed. Chain 10 for ornament hanging. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
