Easy Cropped Tank Crochet Pattern
Yarn: Bernat Softee Cotton in Sandstone (3 skeins)
Crochet hook: Size US F crochet hook
Gauge: 18 sts and 14 rows = 4 inches in pattern
Sizes: S/M, M/L (in parenthesis)
Size S/M has a 33 inch bust. The top can stretch to accommodate another few inches.
Pattern instructions:
Make 2 (front and back are the same)
For the Ribbing: Ch 15.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1sc in each ch to end of the chain. Turn. 14 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1. 1 scbl in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep the last row until Ribbing measures 16 (18)inches when slightly stretched. Do not fasten off.
Next row: (RS). Ch 1. Work 75 (81) sc evenly across long edge of Ribbing.|Proceed in pattern as follows: (multiple of 2 sts +1).
Row 1: (WS). Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout). *1 sc in next sc. 1 dc in next sc. Rep from*to end of row. Turn. 75 (81) sts.
Row 2:Ch1.1scinfirstdc.*1dc in next sc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Row 3:Ch3.*1 sc in next dc. 1 dc in next sc.Rep from* to the end of the row. Turn.
Repeat the last 2 rows for pattern until work from lower edge (including Ribbing) measures 9 inches ending on a WS row.
Shape armholes:
Row 1: (RS). Slip st across first 3 (5) sts. Ch1.1 sc in same space as the last slip st. Pattern to last 2 (4) sts. Turn. Leave rem 2 (4) sts unworked.
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn.**
Rows 3-12: As 2nd row. 49 (51) sts.
Shape right back neck:
Row 1: (RS). Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat across 20 (21) sts. Hdc2tog. Turn. Leave the remaining sts unworked.
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn.
Rep last row until 2 (3) sts rem.
Next row: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2 (3) tog.
With rem st, work 50 ch for shoulder strap. Fasten off.
Shape left back neck: Skip center st. Join yarn with sl st to next st.
Row 1: (RS). Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog over same st as last sl st and next st. Pat to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2tog. Pat to last 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Turn.
Rep last row until 2 (3) sts rem.
Next row: Ch 2 (does not count as st). Hdc2 (3) tog.
With remaining st, work 50 ch for shoulder strap. Fasten off.
Shoulder Strap and Back Neck Edging: With RS facing, join yarn with slip st to last ch of right back shoulder strap. Work 1 sc in each of 48 ch, then work sc evenly down right back neck edge, working sc3tog over center V, sc evenly up left back neck edge, then work 1 sc into each of 48 ch of left back shoulder strap. Fasten off.
Shoulder Strap and Front Neck Edging: Work as for Shoulder Strap and Back Neck Edging joining yarn to last ch of left front shoulder strap.
Sew the side seams.
