Easy Scrap Yarn Scarf Knitting Pattern
Easy Scrap Yarn Scarf Knitting Pattern- turn your leftover yarn into this oversized hurdle stitch scarf. Ideal for beginners!
If you’re looking to make a dent in your yarn stash, this is the project for you! I used a lot of leftover yarn to knit this scarf! This cozy, oversized scarf will be perfect for when the temperatures drop.
This scarf is knit using the Hurdle Stitch. The Hurdle Stitch is a reversible stitch (it looks the same on both sides) that’s created using knit and purl stitches. The stitch is created using a repeat of 4 rows. I added the new yarn at the beginning of rows on the right side to create uniform stripes.
This video will show you how to create the stitch:

Yarn: Any #5 weight yarn
Needles: Size US 11 single point knitting needles
Cast on 50 sts.
Row 1: Knit across.
Row 2: Knit across.
Row 3: K1, P1 across row.
Row 4: K1, P1 across row.
Work these 4 rows for pattern. Add new yarn on the right side at the beginning of a new row. You can decide how wide you’d like the stripes to be. I like the look of the stripes being different widths.
Work until the piece measures approximately inches from the cast on edge. Bind off after a knit row.
Finishing: Weave in ends. Make and attach tassels. This is my favorite tool for making tassels. (Learn how to make perfect tassels every time with my easy video)
