Easy Thick & Quick Hat Knitting Pattern- a colorful and warm hat made with Lion Brand’s Thick & Quick self striping yarn.
Lion Brand’s Wool-Ease Thick & Quick is one of my favorite yarns to use for winter hats. When I saw that they had created a Mandala version of Thick & Quick, I knew I had to try it out! The Mandala yarns have long self-striping colorways. They create wide stripes without the need to weave in ends from different color yarns.
Another reason I love Thick & Quick is that it knits up really fast. It took less than 3 hours to make this hat!

Easy Thick & Quick Hat Knitting Pattern
Yarn: Lion Brand Mandala Thick & Quick Yarn in Thumbprint (1 skein)
Needles: Size US 11 Circular, 16 inch, size US 11 double point knitting needles
Size: Women’s one size
Gauge: 2 inches = 5 sts.
With the circular needles, cast on 54 sts. Place a marker and join the ends together, being careful not to twist the yarn.
Knit every round until piece measures 7 inches from the cast-on edge.
Shape crown:
Change to double point needles when needed.
Round 1: *K7, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (48 stitches)
Round 2: *K6, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (42 stitches)
Round 3: *K5, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (36 stitches)
Round 4: *K4, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (30 stitches)
Round 5: *K3, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (24 stitches)
Round 6: *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (18 stitches)
Round 7: k2tog to end of round (9 stitches)
Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Pull through remaining stitches and pull to tighten. Weave in ends. Make and attach pom pom.
