Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Coney Island (1 skein), Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Pumpkin (for the pom pom)
Needles: Size US 11 circular, 16 inch, Size US 11 Double Point knitting needles
Also needed: Pom pom maker, Yarn needle with large eye
Gauge: 2 inches= 5 sts in stockinette stitch
Size: Women’s One Size

Pattern instructions:

With the circular needles, cast on 48 sts. Join ends together and place a marker.

Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 4 1/2 inches.

Knit in the round until piece measures 8 1/2 inches from the cast-on edge.

Shape crown:
Switch to double point knitting needles when needed.
Round 1: Knit 6, Knit 2 together across round. (42 sts)
Round 2: Knit across round.
Round 3: Knit 5, Knit 2 together across round. (36 sts)
Round 4: Knit across round.

Round 5: Knit 4, Knit 2 together across round. (30 sts)
Round 6: Knit across round.
Round 7: Knit 3, Knit 2 together across round. (24 sts)
Round 8: Knit across round.
Round 9: Knit 2, Knit 2 together across round. (18 sts)

Round 10: Knit across round.
Round 11: Knit 2 together across round. (9 sts)

Break yarn, pull through remaining stitches. Pull to tighten. Weave in ends. Make and attach pom using pom pom maker.
