When it’s summer, chances are you can find us in the pool. Swimming pools provide endless entertainment, but they do require some maintenance in return. Swimming pools need regular upkeep to be at their best. Keeping pool water clean, clear and balanced protects you and your family from contaminants and pollutants. It also helps you avoid costly hardware repairs due to corrosion or mineral build-up and helps your whole pool last longer. Pool maintenance may seem confusing, but luckily HTH Pool supplies take the guesswork out of caring for your pool, which leaves more time for enjoying it with the family!
Chemical levels are arguably one of the most important facets of pool maintenance. Improperly balanced water looks murky, irritates skin and eyes and can cause your pool to become a breeding ground for bacteria. How do you know if your chemicals levels are okay? HTH Multi-Purpose 6-Way Test Strips (available at Walmart) are a fast and easy way to check. Ideally, you should test the water at least once a week. There are 30 test stripes included which are enough to last the whole summer!
HTH Multi-Purpose 6-Way Test Strips are a simple way to test swimming pool water to determine if you need to balance it. The test strip checks for free available chlorine, bromine, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness and cyanuric acid (CYA) levels.
How to use the test strips:
Dip the test strip into the pool water for a few seconds about 18” below the water surface, away from jets or return lines. Immediately remove with pads facing up. Do not shake off excess water. Hold strip level for 20 seconds. Compare to color chart on the back of the canister.

I sent my HTH Test Strips test results to 484123 (HTH123) and within minutes they texted me back with the right products and instructions for my pool. How simple!
The text results informed me that I needed to purchase hth® Pre-measured Water Soluble Pods Shock! (available at Walmart). PODS are a new water-soluble pool care solution that work just like laundry pods. The pods are pre-measured so there are no dosing mistakes. Simply toss in and enjoy your pool.
How to use:
Always be sure the pump is running when testing the water or adding chemicals. Test and adjust the pH to the ideal range of 7.2 to 7.8. Add the recommended dosage directly to the pool during evening hours while the pump is running. If any granules settle to the bottom of the pool, use a brush to disperse. Once the free chlorine levels reach between 1 and 4 parts per million, it’s swim time! Repeat every seven days or as often as needed to prevent pool problems.
When all the chemicals are properly balanced, the water should be crystal clear, have no scent and leave very little residue on your skin.
All the HTH products for your pool care needs are available at Walmart.
