5 Minute Chia Seed Jam- Only 4 Ingredients

5 Minute Chia Seed Jam- Only 4 Ingredients!

I went overboard with the strawberries this season and I ended up with too many to eat. I decided to make them into a jam but I wanted something with less sugar. Traditional homemade jams contain a lot of sugar. The sugar, not only sweetens the fruit, it combines with the pectin and fruit acids to form the gel texture that makes jam. In this 5 Minute Chia Seed Jam- Only 4 Ingredients recipe, chia seeds take the place of sugar to form the perfect jam consistency.

Chia seeds are the edible seeds of Salvia hispanica, a flowering plant in the mint family native to Central America, and some parts of America and Mexico. Despite their tiny size, chia seeds pack a lot of nutrition! They are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, rich in antioxidants, and they provide iron, fiber and calcium.

This Chia Jam takes only 5 minutes to make and it contains only 4 ingredients. It’s the perfect pairing for toast or overnight oats.

Enjoy!

Once made- the chia seed jam should be stored in the refrigerator. I use these jars. Since the jam contains no preservatives, it should be eaten within 3-4 days.
