After years of half hardheartedly working out and not seeing the results I wanted, I decided to get serious about fitness. I used to go to the gym and zone out on the elliptical with a book, barely breaking a sweat. Working out always felt like a chore. I was showing up, but not putting forth any real effort. This past year, I switched to a Vegan diet and it sparked an interest in changing other aspects of my lifestyle. I declared 2018 the year I get in the best shape of my life! Today I’m going to share how I’m reaching my fitness goals with the help of the .
I never used an activity tracker before, but once I put this one on I was hooked! The Nokia Steel HR is an activity tracker with heart rate monitoring and a very long lasting battery life (25 days!). It has a sleek, stylish design so it doesn’t look out of place with nice outfits. No one ever knows that it’s an activity tracker, which I love!
The Health Mate App
The Health Mate stores all your data collected from the Nokia Steel HR. It tracks all the info and illustrates it with graphs, so you can see trends/progress over time.

Here’s how the Nokia Steel HR has been helping to up my fitness game:
At the gym–
Gone are my lazy days of reading on the elliptical with minimal resistance! Now, I circuit train and run. With the Nokia Steel HR I can monitor my heart rate while exercising to make sure I’m in the target zone. It continuously monitors your heart rate and stores the info in the Health Mate app. Your heart rate is monitored every 10 minutes by default or you can use the continuous heart rate mode which takes a measurement every second. All the info appears on a helpful chart in the Health Mate app.
The Nokia Steel HR automatically begins tracking your steps and it can differentiate between numerous activities like walking, running and swimming.
I never thought I’d say this but, I look forward to working out now! It’s been hard, but I feel physically stronger and it’s only been a month. Vigorous exercise in the morning sets the tone for the rest of my day. It makes me feel calmer and more productive.
I’m obsessed with the Nokia Steel HR’s step counter! Working from home means that I have the tendency to spend too much time in front of the computer. I love that the step counter recommends a goal (10,000 steps/day) and holds me accountable. Since getting the Nokia Steel HR, I’ve been taking periodic breaks throughout the day to stretch my legs and walk around. Hitting that 10,000 milestone each day feels like a little victory and it makes me happy.
The Nokia Steel HR can also track your heart rate while sleeping. A sleep analysis is available on the Health Mate app which shows time spent lying in bed, time spent sleeping, time it took you to fall asleep, times you woke up during the night, etc.
I was pleasantly surprised to see this feature. We all know sleep is essential to good health. It’s been interesting to see an analysis of my sleep. Since I stepped up my workouts, I’ve been sleeping like a baby!
