Flat Knit Baby Free Booties Knitting Pattern- these basic booties are beginner-friendly and they make a great gift!
I love knitting baby booties but I don’t love making them on double point needles. For me, double-point needles and tiny projects usually lead to dropped stitches! This easy baby booties knitting pattern is knit entirely on straight needles (yay!) They’re very easy to knit and they would make thoughtful gifts. This pattern is ideal for beginner knitters.
The design is pretty basic- it’s a mix of garter and stockinette stitches. The ribbed band helps these stay on baby’s feet.

Needles: Size 4 straight knitting needles
Gauge: 8 long 12 high = 2 inches

Cast on 31 (35 39) sts.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: K1, M1, Knit 14 (16,18) M1, K1, M1, Knit 14 (16,18) M1, K1 35 (39,43) sts
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: K1, M1, Knit 16 (18,20) M1, K1, M1, Knit 16 (18,20) M1, K1 39 (43,47) sts
Row 5: Knit
Row 6: K1, M1, Knit 18 (19,22) M1, K1, M1, Knit 18 (20,22) M1, K1 43 (47,51) sts
Rows 7-21: Knit
Shape the foot:
Row 1 (right side): Knit11. ssk. K6 (8,10). ssk. K1 K2tog. K6 (8,10). K2tog. K11 39 (43,47) sts.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit 11. ssk. K4 (6,8). ssk. K1 K2tog. K4 (6,8). K2tog. K11 35 (39,43) sts.
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: Knit 11. ssk. K2 (4,6). ssk. K1 K2tog. K2 (4,6). K2tog. K11 31 (35,39) sts.
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: Knit 11. ssk. K Zero (2,4). ssk. K1 K2tog. K Zero (2,4). K2tog. K11 27 (31,35) sts.
Row 8- 13 Knit 5 rows in stockinette stitch. On the last row, knit 2 sts together in the middle 26 (30, 34) sts.
Cuff:
K1, P1 for 2 (2 1/4, 2 1/2) inches. Bind off in ribbing loosely.
How to assemble the Flat Knit Baby Booties Free Knitting Pattern
This is what the piece looks like when you are finished knitting.
Fold the piece over and stitch the side seam and the bottom seam closed using a slip stitch.
