Everything You Need to Know About At Home Microdermabrasion

Taking care of my skin has always been a priority for me. The women in my family stressed the importance of sunscreen. healthy living and good beauty products. Since I work full time and I’m a mother, I’m really looking for ways to simplify my beauty routine without sacrificing on quality. I’m up for trying any at home version of my spa favorites. Microdermabrasion has been one of my skin care essentials. However the monthly trips to the spa started to feel like a chore and the costs quickly add up. When Exuviance contacted me to do a review of their triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish I jumped at the chance!

     What is Microdermabrasion?
If you’re unfamiliar with Microdermabrasion, it’s a must for keeping your skin soft and removing damage from the sun and aging. It’s a procedure that exfoliates and removes the superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells. It’s great for fine lines, uneven pigmentation and clogged pores. When you get Microdermabrasion done at the spa they use a wand instrument and crystals to sand away dead skin. Exuviance uses the same crystals. It also has Papaya Enzyme and Glycolic Acid help dissolve impurities that contribute to congested pores, and loosen dead skin cells. Once the dead skin cells are removed you’re left with a brighter complexion and a reduced appearance of pores and dark spots.

How do I perform Microdermabrasion at home?

Apply a thin layer of Exuviance to your clean, wet face. Massage (don’t scrub) in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Be sure to avoid your eye area. Leave on for up to 2 minutes (1 minute if you have sensitive skin) and rinse off. Pat face dry and apply moisturizer. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so be sure to wear sunscreen.

Is it as strong as the Microdermabrasion performed in a dermatologist office?
No, it’s not as strong. Honestly though, my skin looked just as smooth and bright with Exuviance as it did with the spa Microdermabrasion. Plus the Exuviance is easier and much more cost effective!

Is it safe?

It’s not an invasive procedure and it’s totally safe to try at home. If you have sensitive skin  you may experience some mild redness for a few hours after using Exuviance.
How often do I have to do it?
Once or twice per week. If your skin is very sensitive you might want to start at once per week. I use Exuviance twice a week. My fair skin is never red or irritated from it.
How soon will I see results?
After the first use I noticed that my skin felt very smooth. Continued use will reduce the appearance of dark spots and pores.

Overall, I’m really pleased with Exuviance and I think it’s an effective alternative to professional Microdermabrasion. It’s a great way to brighten up your skin for the Spring and it’s much more affordable than monthly trips to the salon!

Have you tried Microdermabrasion at home or in a salon? I love to hear your experience!
