How to Make Woodburned Coasters- Great Handmade Hostess Gift!
I loved the look of anything wood burned, plus it’s really fun to do! Best of all, you don’t need to be artistically inclined to draw a great image. You can transfer any image to the wood using graphite paper. Then, all you have to do is trace. Easy enough, right?
The holidays are quickly approaching and that means visiting friends and family. These wood burned coasters make the perfect holiday hostess gift. Just pair with a bottle of wine and you’re good to go!
Supplies:
Unfinished wood coasters
Wood burner
Graphite paper
Printed out image (I used this image)
Spray on Sealer
How to Make Woodburned Coasters- Great Handmade Hostess Gift!
Resize the image so it fits on the coaster and print it out. Choose one that has a lot of contrast. If you’re looking for something simple, a plain outline works well.
Cut out your image. Place the coaster on the bottom, graphite paper on top, then the image. Trace around the image with a pencil.
Remove the paper and you’ll see that the image has been transferred to the coaster.
Wood burn over the tracing lines. Here are some tips for successful wood burning:
1) Go slow and keep you hand steady on a flat surface (not up in the air) while you work.
2) Keep the wood burned at a medium temperature.
To make the other coaster, I reversed the image in Photoshop.
Spray with a coat of sealer to protect the coasters when you are finished.
