I thought it would fun to do a knit Halloween costume. Little Red Riding Hood was the first thing that came to mind! This is knit in 2 separate pieces and the pattern is great for beginners because it's knit flat. There's no increasing/decreasing and the shape is made through seaming. Also, this pattern is knit on large needles using super bulky yarn so it works up pretty fast. Hope you like it!

(Note- hood is knit flat and then sewn up the back) Cast on 56 sts. Work in Garter Stitch for 3 rows.
Row 4: Purl 3, knit to last 3 stitches, Purl the last 3 stitches.
Row 5: Purl
Repeat rows 4 and 5 until piece measures 12 ½ inches. Bind off.
To assemble:
The 3 rows you knitting at the beginning will go around the neck and the Purl 3 part will go around the face.
1) Fold the piece in half longways, right sides together.
2) Using a yarn needle sew the seam closed where you binded off. Turn the hood right side out.
3) To make the ties: Pick up 4 sts at the front of the hood and Garter Stitch for 10 inches. Bind off and weave in end of yarn. Repeat on the other side.
To assemble: Once you finish knitting, you will have a large rectangle. Fold it in half at the shorter ends. Sew a 7 inch seam on each side. This makes the arm holes.
I love the pattern. I have a question. How do you attach the hood to the cape. Thank you for the pattern. I eagerly await your reply
Hi! I sewed the hood to the cape using a yarn needle and a basic mattress stitch.
